Cabernet Couch: Wine Jug Couch by Carlo Rossi

|

That’s the Cabernet Couch, made from 33 empty Cabernet jugs and vintage corduroy futon mattress for the winemaker Carlo Rossi.

In what can only be called a strange yet utterly fascinating effort to turn the image of wine jugs from being associated with drunk winos into haute couture, Carlo Rossi also has the Chardonnay Chandelier ("jug count: 33"), Burgundy Bookshelf (jug count: 28), Paisano Plasma TV Stand, and more.

Aston Martin Couch

|

This couch is an exact replica of an Aston Martin DB6 rear end. It’s painted in a classic Aston Martin color, Silver Birch. The red leather is finished off with a Y-stitch on each cushion. Polished to perfection, this couch would look good in a garage full of Astons.

James Bond would be proud to lounge on it. Headrests are not included in the base price of over $7,300. Link

Mac II Couch

| |

A couch constructed from 20 Macintosh II computers at the Mac Store in Maryland Heights, Missouri. It’s strong enough to sit upon (since the boxes were built to hold heavy 20" monitors) and surprisingly comfortable — although I wouldn’t want to nap on it.

Yes, those are real computers, held together with drywall screws. The owner tells me it isn’t for sale, but considering the original top-of-the-line Mac II sold for around $5,500, that couch could go for over $100,000.
