My Crazy Teeth

| |

I have to go back to the dentist, and I don't want to.  I think that my tooth has a great personality, it's so wild, rebel & egocentric. Via

Dentist offers online check-ups

A London dentist is giving patients check-ups - over the internet.

Jerry Watson examines their teeth via webcam and decides if he needs to see them in person, reports The Sun.

The patients still have to go to a clinic to be filmed and have a £50 clean by a hygienist at the same time.

Dr Watson, who is expanding his Toothplace clinic to 20 more UK sites this summer, says it means he can monitor patients at four clinics at once.

And he believes the technology could ultimately mean people getting a check-up at home.

He said: "There's no reason people couldn't get seen from home if they've a high-quality camera.

"What we need for the future is cameras in electric toothbrushes. That would be fantastic."

Dentist danced while drilling

| |

A woman is suing her dentist over a drill mishap.

Brandy Fanning said the dentist was dancing to the song "Car Wash" when the drill bit he was using got stuck in her sinus cavity. She said he was performing rhythmic steps to the song while doing an extraction.

The lawsuit says the inch-long drill bit punctured her sinus cavity and became lodged near her eye socket. The dentist was unable to remove it, and she spent three days in a hospital after having it surgically removed.

Fanning told the Syracuse Post-Standard that she still suffers facial swelling, nerve damage and chronic infections from the 2004 incident.

The dentist, George Trusty, did not comment on the lawsuit, which seeks $600,000 for Fanning's medical bills and her pain and suffering.
